begging for change 300x199 Dont Read This If You Dont Want To Learn How To Change Your Life in 2012

Are you silently begging for a big change this year ?

Working out how to change your life generally starts with a wake up call.

This is my first post of the year aimed at provoking you to just slow down for a moment , take notice of your surroundings, your thoughts, your hopes and your dreams and reflect on what’s working in your life right now and what’s not.

Go on, be brave and dive in.This is your wake up.

Would you like to learn how to change your life this year?

What a great time to start thinking about how you want to change your life. A time when we look back at the past sometimes with happiness , sometimes with sadness and regret at what’s gone, a time when we see the present with awe and the future with great expectations.

The New year encourages us to take  the time to stop, reflect , renew and recreate ourselves, our lives and our businesses. It gives us the capacity to see the world anew, no small feat at all given the pace of change we live with and the rate we now seem to move at.
All too often though, we operate on automatic pilot with a fixed set of actions and patterns that carry us along from day to day, week to week, month to month and before we realise it  the years fly by.

Before we know it, our lives have fallen out of kilter, our relationships have become mundane because we’ve taken them for granted and failed to see the gift of time. We’ve failed to appreciate what’s most important to us because we’re so busy in being busy fulfilling someone else’s dream or doing stuff for the sake of it without reflecting whether its worthwhile .

We’re so busy trying to keep up with being efficient we fail to  focus our attention on how to be effective. Gradually over time  our love of life diminishes because we’ve forgotten how to play, because we’ve become depleted and  drained, heavy with the burdens of responsibility.

On a basic level a fixed pattern can be a blessing because it builds comfort, familiarity and well-being.

When applied to our work and relationships it can, however, blind us to the obvious and fool us into silly  ineffective actions or speaking words we later regret. Familiarity can paralyse us into staying put when we know that our path is elsewhere. We fall into the trap of undervaluing ourselves and burying our dreams.

So navigating our path to success in life and in our online businesses is all about learning to stay flexible, to bend like the branch of a tree against a howling wind and to grasp that we need to let go of the old if we want to transform and learn how to change your life for the better. Holding on to the old ways only builds up more resistance guaranteed to persist until we learn our lessons and the pain has become too great to stay stuck.

Irrespective of whether you want to learn how to change your life or not one thing is certain, your life is certainly going to change and you will age.

So why not make change your friend?

Why not invest some time, attention and energy in what you really want rather than preoccupying your thoughts with your fears and worries?

Could you be a change agent?

In the heart of everyone there is a dream and an aspiration to become more of who they really are. The more we can tap into that connection the greater our chances of re-energising our lives and our work. Its the place we find our purpose . Each of us have something to offer the world.

Ask yourself

What are you really passionate about  ?

Is it something you already have an interest in?

Does it feel right as well as stacking up logically?

Do you have a degree of talent in this area that can be developed over time to excellence?

Are you prepared to do whatever it takes?

What are you prepared to give up to realise your dream ?

What’s your purpose….have you found it yet ?

Personal transformation begins when we are able to align our inner and our outer worlds.

This brings the much needed harmony and balance that enables us to tune into the present moment and spot opportunities that we may have previously overlooked. It allows us to see the world with fresh eyes again. Clarity and insight become everyday occurrences when we’re passionate about our work. This provides the much needed energy to fuel our businesses and our relationships.

The irony here is that we’ve got to slow down first to accelerate in all we do and see what is really in front of us behind all of our preconceived notions, beliefs and biases.

The world is changing fast right in front of  our very eyes and some of these trends bring options for thinking differently about how we live and how we work and we treat and communicate with each other.

In a world where each of us are distracted every 11 minutes on average as online marketers we need to focus on getting attention and then holding it.I hope I have held yours long enough  to get to the end of this post!

I will leave you with  a fascinating video by Skandia about the current and future trends for all of us and one final thought if you want 2012 to be the year you learn how to change your life for the better and become the agent of change to make a difference in the world then get subscribing here and we’ll have you self employed , working smarter not harder whilst still having time to play in no time at all.

One reason I have long-resisted New Year Resolutions is because the time to make changes for the better is each and every day. Many people experience a sense of renewal at the New Year, and if that’s what motivates them to create change I say go for it, but don’t lose sight of making a conscious decision to experience a great life each day thereafter.

In my experience real change comes with intentional living and mindful practice of positive and productive behaviors. As you mention in your article, change and renewal go hand-in-hand. Charging full-speed ahead at the beginning of the year is likely to result in burn-out. Change that lasts comes with patience practice and a balanced life.

Hey Chrysta, You’re right, real change does take patience and focused intention otherwise we do literally fall back into our old ways of being and doing so thanks for your wisdom on this . As a society, we’re not too good at patience are we…years of conditioning and subliminal messaging that we can fix our lives in an instant!
I say little steps forward every day towards our desired direction whilst enjoying every moment.
